801 West End Avenue, Pre-War Residence

For this West End Avenue, pre-war classic 8 residence, Deana reconstructed the apartment from family living to functional spaces for her client’s new empty nest lifestyle.  She transformed the living room from a palette of greens and reds to a sublime sanctuary for her clients.  Palettes of grays, whites and creams were used to open up the space.  Deana choose furnishings with textures of metals and cement paying close attention to the pre-war details of the apartment. The lighting in this room was particularly essential. The ceiling lighting and the sconces combined marble with patina brass which highlights the shearling textiles and built-ins that furnish the living room.

Deana converted the two children’s rooms into “his” and “her” studies paying careful attention to the individual needs of each of her clients.

The “her” study represents the actress whimsical side. This room had to be happy, bright yet functional. Deana used hand painted cloud wallpaper and custom white ash custom furniture adding a pop of color with mauve suede doors for the TV case.

“His” study represented the client’s passion for education and reading. Deana furnished this room with custom mahogany and brass built-ins to house his plethora of books creating a true gentleman’s quarter.  The herringbone textiles and grass cloth wallpaper that line the walls give the room a very inviting and cozy feeling. Last, but not least, an antique trumpet was placed in the room other for his other passion; music.
